R&R in London!

We’ve decamped to London for the hurricane season – Nassau gets even more humid and hot from now to autumn, so Mr. R&R and I have rented a place in the big smoke to get our fill of culture for three months. We arrived yesterday and so far, so super – the flat is right in the centre of town and there’s a gorgeous kitchenware shop dangerously close…

Highlights of being back, so far:

  1. London’s social mix: “Know wha’ I mean, mate?”, “I’m on my Blackberry, innit” and “Yah, sweetie” in the space of one city block
  2. Privacy, London style: hairy naked guys massaging each other in the house opposite (Hello, search engine visitors!)
  3. Estate agents, everywhere
  4. Crumpets

I’ve imposed a moratorium on desserts for the next three months (otherwise I’m going to need a whole new wardrobe) but since our rented flat has a lovely kitchen I reckon on doing quite a bit of savoury cooking. I’m thinking about all the things we can’t get in Nassau like good meat, cold water shellfish, granary bread and organic vegetables. Proper English pork sausages are first on the list though…
