So you know when you have something to do, and it’s not particularly difficult or onerous, but you don’t do it one day, then you put it off a bit more, and before you know it the task in question has assumed galactically huge proportions and even thinking about it like totally freaks you out? (Of course you do, you’re reading a blog about cooking on the internet. Procrastination is all too familiar.)
Well that’s kind of what happened to this blog. One day it was all loved and updated, and the next I broke my laptop by falling over on the way to the bathroom (that’ll teach me to listen to the iPlayer in the shower), started a diet, got hugely busy in London and… well, here we are. Neglect and dilapidation ruled.
But now I’m back in Nassau, which means normal recipe service will resume shortly (I’m about to be very mean about His Holiness Nigel Slater among other things). But in the meantime – in the style of an overexcitable blogger – here are my Top 5 Best Things Ever About Being Back In The Bahamas!
1. Tupperware
Literally the first thing I did when I got back was to take all my Lock & Lock tupperware out of its drawers and cupboards, spread it out on the countertop and just look at it. No I didn’t touch it – that would be weird.
I’m not going to share a picture with you of that because it would be Too Scary and you might never come back. My excuse, however, is that the ‘Ware is essential, as it keeps out the ants, who can smell a raisin from 500 metres. Which brings me on to…
2. Ant Extermination
After a couple of “You little f*ckers!” moments, on opening the cupboards and finding hundreds of ants crawling over the bottle of soy sauce with one (one!) drop left carelessly on the side, I have now declared war. I bought some Terro from Amazon, which is like crack for ants, as one astute review put it in all caps (I have saved you that). It attracts them from miles around, they eat it like crazy then they take it back to the nest and they all die (howwibly, howwibly I imagine). I’m really enjoying it. I know. It’s not very Buddhist, is it?
3. 4. and 5. Sun, Sea and Sport (see picture above)
Apologies to readers from Britain and Minnesota at this particularly inclement time of the year. Don’t hate me.
Big kiss. Zoë. x

Welcome back! I am home in NZ for a bit too, yay summer! Ballz to winter.
Hey girl! Oh cool, hope you’re having a great time. I second your thoughts on the season, not that you would have noticed today as I was on the beach with a massive jacket, furry fleece, a hat and a thermos of tea. I was so wrapped up I could hardly hear the other people taking the mick…
